Dance has been as integral to my life as my own shadow. Growing up in a lively dance family in Edmonton, Alberta, my journey began at the age of three, and by seventeen, I was dancing professionally.

After a year with the Alberta Ballet Company, I felt the pull of greater opportunities and moved to NYC to attend the prestigious Juilliard School. This experience opened doors to an exhilarating chapter of my life when I joined the Parsons Dance Company, one of the premier modern dance ensembles of the time. For four transformative years, I toured the world, performing on iconic stages such as the Sydney Opera House, La Scala in Italy, and City Center in NYC. My work was celebrated in the pages of the New York Times, Vogue, and other publications including the photography books of Lois Greenfield and Howard Schatz, marking milestones in my dance career.

My insatiable curiosity and interest in human consciousness led me to explore new horizons. I returned to academia at Columbia University, delving into Oracle software design and performance tuning, a pursuit that culminated in the creation of my own company where I oversaw software systems for various clients across NYC. As I built my consulting company, I continued to perform as a freelance dance artist, primarily with Aszure Barton.

Driven by a desire to make a difference, I then ventured into humanitarian work, co-creating a non-profit organization that brought aid to communities in Ethiopia, India, El Salvador, and other countries. I ran this 501c3 for a very rewarding six years, allowing me to merge my experience in tech with a passion for global well-being.

Eventually, the call of performing arts drew me back in. I returned to my artistic roots, collaborating with my sister Cherice Barton to launch Axis Connect, a program designed to empower emerging professional dancers with the confidence and connections to achieve success in the industry. The program flourished for four years before the pandemic brought an unexpected pause.

Over the period of 2020-2022,, I continued to evolve, attending the Directors program at UCLA. This period marked a new chapter in my creative journey, leading to a remarkable opportunity in 2021 to choreograph the opening title sequence for James Gunn’s "Peacemaker" series on HBO. The dance went viral, and I am currently creating a new opening for the show's second season.

Having started my artistic journey in the theater, I am committed to continually creating new work for the stage. Most recently, I choreographed an original work for the Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company in Kansas City. I am now focused on pursuing more choreographic opportunities for both stage and screen while honing my directorial skills, determined to continue pushing the boundaries of my artistic expression.
